Dr. León was born in 1989 in Seville. He received his BSc degree in Chemistry at the University of Seville (US, 2014) under the supervision of Prof. Agustin Galindo. After his BSc, he studied a Master Degree in Advanced Chemistry (University of Seville, 2015). He then pursued a research career joining the PhD programme of the University of Seville, which was carried out in the Institute of Chemical Research, a joint centre between the University of Seville and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). His thesis, carried out under the supervision of Dr. Antonio Pizzano, focused in the enantioselective hydrogenation of unsaturated compounds of interest using novel phosphorus-based ligands. After a successful PhD, he obtained a Research Fellow position at Nanyang Technological University (2019-2022, Singapore), where he carried out research about main group chemistry (supervisor Prof. Felipe Garcia) and photoactive metal complexes (Prof. Soo Han Sen). He then joined the group of Dr. Didier Bourissou in the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (2022-2023, Toulouse, France) where he studied gold complexes for novel redox applications. In 2023 he joined the Esteruelas’ group where he is studying the preparation, reactivity and catalytic applications of Ir complexes.
