Dr. Montserrat Oliván was born in Huesca and studied Chemistry at the University of Zaragoza. She obtained her Ph. D. Degree in 1995 working with professors Miguel A. Esteruelas and Luis A. Oro at the same university. After spending two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Indiana working under the supervision of Prof. Kenneth G. Caulton she returned at the University Zaragoza in 1998. Since then she has been working as a postdoctoral researcher, and in 2005 she was appointed Researcher of the Spanish Council of Scientific Research at the Materials Science Institute of Aragón, in Zaragoza. Her main research interests are organometallic chemistry and the application of organometallic compounds in homogeneous catalysis, mainly in carbon-carbon bond forming processes and in dehalogenation of polychlorinated compounds.
