Sonia.JPGSonia Bajo was born in Aranda de Duero (Burgos) in 1985. In 2008, she finished her studies in Chemical Sciences at University of Valladolid. In 2009, she obtained a Master Degree entitled “Groups 6, 7 and 11 Transition Metal Complexes containing Indazole” under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Villafañe. Later, she joined Prof. Miguel A. Esteruelas’ group as a Ph. D. student. In 2010 she got a Master Degree  in Chemical Research. In October of 2014,  she obtained her Ph. D. under the supervision of Professor Miguel A. Esteruelas and Professor Ana M. López at the University of Zaragoza (Spain). In 2015, she obtained a postdoctoral position as a Research Associate in the Department of Pure & Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (United Kingdom). Her research there was focus on the study of fundamental processes in cross-coupling nickel catalysis using organometallic chemistry and spectroscopic methods. Now, her main research interest is centered on the synthesis of Iridium complexes.
